Competitive = Select Soccer
The second highest level of competition for our youth players seeks to match players of similar competitive abilities to enhance soccer enjoyment. Our Select teams draw from the ranks of recreational players and offer a more competitive level of local/Eastern Washington play.
History: In Spring, 2009, Spokane’s existing Select soccer clubs (Breakers SC, Sabers FC, United FC, and FC Storm) and the Spokane Shadow Youth Soccer Club unified together and initiated a gradual integration process in order to better serve the needs of Spokane’s youth soccer players. The installation of the new U11 program was the appropriate starting point for this process for the 2009-2010 season. The integration of age groups "ages up" one year, each following year.
The unified Shadow Select age groups for the 2011-2012 season are the U11, U12 & U13 boys and girls teams, with a number of Shadow United FC U14 and older teams who have also joined our unified club.
Mission: The mission of the unified Shadow is to provide the best quality soccer experience for each and every participating child allowing them to
play to their highest potential through an integrated, innovative, and unified club providing progressive competition, in which they grow to become confident, positive, contributing citizens in our community.
Teams: Are formed based on location:
• Shadow-Sabers FC: Mead & Mt. Spokane High Schools; Mead and Northwood Middle Schools
• Shadow-United FC: North Central, Rogers, Shadle Park High Schools; Shaw, Salk, Glover, Lakeside & Garry Middle Schools
• Shadow-Breakers: Ferris & Lewis and Clark High Schools; Sacajawea and Chase Middle Schools
