Memphis, Tenn. - Sophomore goalkeeper Elise Kuhar-Pitters (Gonzaga Prep; Shadow Class of 2007) was named Conference-USA Defensive Player of the Week as announced by C-USA Monday.

The Spokane, Wash. native recorded back-to-back shutouts for the second time this season as the Lady Tigers opened conference play. Kuhar-Pitters picked up her eighth career shutout at Southern Miss Friday and her ninth career shutout on Sunday against 20th-ranked UCF. She has posted two shutouts against ranked opponents on the road this season (#25 LSU & #20 UCF).

Kuhar-Pitters is the first Lady Tiger goalkeeper to win C-USA Defensive Player of the Week since Isabel Birones received the honor on Aug. 28 2006. She leads C-USA goalkeepers with a 0.67 goals against average. This is her first career C-USA Player of the Week honor.
