Spokane Shadow Youth Soccer Club Announces New Club Director
The Spokane Shadow Youth Soccer Club, Eastern Washington’s premier level youth soccer club, is pleased to announce that Sean Bushey has been hired as Club Director; concluding a nationwide search by Club coaches, parents and the Board of Directors. His tenure with Spokane Shadow will begin this week. A 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1999, Spokane Shadow is sponsored by the Spokane Youth Sports Association and offers the highest level of competition to area youth soccer players ages nine through 18 years. The Club began its search for a new Club Director in August.
“We were so pleased to receive interest in our Club from around the U.S.” said Board President Mike Keenan. “We interviewed candidates from Alaska, California and Florida. In the end, the right person for the job was right here in our own backyard.” Bushey is Head Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach and Associate Professor of Kinesiology at Whitworth College, Boy’s Age Group Head Coach for the Region IV Olympic Development Program, obtained a M.S. degree from Eastern Washington University, and holds an ‘A’ License from the United States Soccer Federation. Bushey was recently named 2007 Men’s and Women’s Northwest Soccer Conference Coach of the Year.
“Sean Bushey will bring a balance of soccer expertise and administrative leadership that will allow the Spokane Shadow to remain focused on its core mission of player development. His leadership and experience will allow him to jump right in to oversee the operations of the Club; strengthen the membership; and partner with the local, state regional and national soccer community” said Keenan. “Youth soccer should be an inclusive game for girls and boys who play because they love the game and want to improve their skills. With Sean Bushey at the helm, youth soccer players and their parents can feel confident that their involvement with Spokane Shadow will be positive and fun – the way youth sports should be.”

The Spokane Shadow Youth Soccer Club serves as the premier soccer arm for the Spokane Youth Sports Association. 17 girls and boys teams range from ages U-11 through U-18 and participate in league play of the Washington State Youth Soccer Association; the Player Development League; local, state, regional and national tournaments.
